Bait Ball 3 Tilles 9800, 1/19/70, 10:10 PM, 8C, 7410x9778 (864+1801), 150%, SG Redfish Pol, 1/15 s, R76.8, G64This oil painting was inspired in 2009 when I was asked to do a mural of game fish and deep sea life. The mural never came about. Instead, I created this triptych which is 9 feet long. The painting illustrates the story of how a Sailfish splits the bait ball chasing Mahi Mahi and plunders its riches. Marlin, Dolphin, dolphin fish, sharks, seals and whales also share in the ocean's bounty. Having no first-hand experience with deep sea fishing, I researched from books, videos and the internet.
